Our class has joined up with the Grade 5/6 class to be Reading Buddies. We get together once a week to read, borrow library books and do an activity together.

DAYS OF SCHOOL

We are counting the days of school to the 100th Day when we will have a huge celebration! Each day we do a special activity to celebrate that day of school. Check out what we did on Days 6, 17 and 21. Day 6 we had to make the numeral 6 with playdoh. Day 17 we had to make the numeral 17 with 17 raisins and we got to eat the raisins when we were finished. On day 21 we had to use 21 blocks to make a tower but we were having a lot of trouble so we made some modifications.

BELL WORK

Each morning, we start our day by doing our Bell Work. We started by making our names in playdoh and with wikki stix. We then started to work in groups, doing something different each day of the week. One day we practice our printing, one day we work on the iPads, one day we use the Chromebooks, one day we exchange books and read, and one day we work at the SMARTboard. WHEELS ON THE BUS

To learn our names and to practice our rhyming and letter sounds, we sang "The Wheels on Our Bus" using our names and then we each made our own bus with our verse on it.

T.E.A.M. ACTIVITIES

During our first week of grade one, we also talked about how we are a T.E.A.M. in grade one and Together Everyone Achieves More. Using our values helps us to support each other. Check out the activities we participated in to practice using our values and working as a T.E.A.M.

CLASSROOM AGREEMENT

During our first week of school, we talked about our 6 GSSD values (We Nurture, We Belong, We Respect, We Are Responsible, We Learn and We Persevere) and signed our Classroom Agreement to promise to use our values each and every day of grade one.
